Windows XP - is history

31/10/2011

The licensed version of Windows XP was added to the Computer Science exhibition of the Moscow Polytechnic Museum on October 27, 2011.

This operating system was released by Microsoft on 25 August, 2001 and after a somewhat lukewarm welcome became one of the most popular OS among millions of users all over the world. Offered in several editions – from Home to Tablet PC, XP became the company’s first mass-market operating system in its NT line, and it has not only set the record of longevity in the market but also reached the highest ever market share. At the peak of its popularity, Windows XP was installed on over 80 percent of desktops! No other OS has ever had so many active users either before or after that.

But all good things come to an end at some point, and the sales of Windows XP ended in October 2010 while its support (including Service Pack 3) will be continued till April 2014.
